I was 11 years old when I first started cake decorating classes, learning the art of sugar flowers. I was probably 30 years younger than every other student, but that was what I wanted to do more than anything else. I still make those same flowers, same techniques, just a different medium and in tiny miniature.
I went on to become a chef and pastry chef, working long hours, split shifts and weekends. Work was fine until I had my first child. With a young family, I wanted to make an income working from home, so I started making cake toppers. 15 years later, I'm still here and keen to make them even better.
I have not counted how many "little people" I have made, but I think it would be in the 1000's. My style has changed a little over the years, but I keep learning and trying to improve them.
